set it up

two small automations in the shortcuts app on your iphone: one turns the yelling on, one turns it off. about two minutes, once.

part 1 of 2 · the on switch

when the app opens, start yelling

  1. open Shortcutssearch for it from the home screen
  2. tap Automation, then New Automationor + in the top right if you have some already
  3. scroll down, tap App
  4. tap Choose, tick tiktok, instagram, whatever gets you, then tap ✓
  5. keep only Is Opened ticked
  6. tap Run Immediately, then Next
  7. tap Create New Shortcutyou'll see an empty screen that says “add actions from below”
  8. tap Search Actions at the bottom, type “get contents”, then tap Get Contents of URL
  9. a block appears: “Get contents of URL”. tap the light blue word URL in it, then Paste your open link
  10. tap ✓ in the top right

part 2 of 2 · the off switch

when the app closes, stop yelling

same thing again, just for closing. without it, it would never stop.

  1. tap + in the top right, then App
  2. choose the same apps
  3. untick Is Opened, tick Is Closed
  4. then the same as before: Run Immediately, Next, Create New Shortcut, search Get Contents of URL, and paste your close link into URL

open tiktok (or whichever app you picked) on your phone. this page should start yelling within a second. close the app and it stops.
